How Could Moving to Utah Change Your Life
Hey there! If Utah has been on your mind lately—like, really on your mind—you’re not alone. I know exactly how that feels because just a few years ago, I was in your shoes. Today, I want to share my personal journey of moving to Utah, how it changed my life, and some reasons why it might just be the perfect fit for you too.
Our Utah Story: From Investment to Forever Home
When we first bought property in Utah, we didn’t actually plan to live here. We bought it as an investment. Fast forward a bit… the pandemic hit, and we decided to check it out for ourselves. Just a quick visit, we thought. Well, that “quick visit” turned into “we’re not leaving.” Utah completely captured our hearts.
A Place Where Kids Get to Be Kids Again
One of the biggest blessings of our move? Watching our kids just be kids. Life here has a slower pace, and honestly, it's refreshing. Kids ride their bikes around the neighborhood, scooters are left out in front yards, and the community vibe feels safe and sweet. Coming from a background in education—I was an elementary school teacher for years—this shift felt deeply meaningful to me. Utah gives kids space to grow, explore, and just… enjoy being little.
Built for Families
Our family of six is always on the move, and here in Utah, there’s so much we can do together. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, skiing in the winter, playing pickleball, or just hanging out in the backyard, there’s always something fun (and active!) happening. It’s been such a gift for our family dynamic.
A Chance to Hit Reset
We loved our life in California. Great neighborhood, beach nearby, awesome schools. But coming to Utah felt like a reset in the best way. We weren’t escaping anything—we were just ready for something new. We moved to a city where we didn’t know anyone, and yes, it was a little scary at first. But that fresh start led us to new friendships, wonderful neighbors, and an entirely new lifestyle we never imagined we’d love so much.
Embracing All Four Seasons
One of the biggest surprises? How much we’ve loved experiencing all four seasons. Summer brings kayaking and paddle boarding, fall means hikes with stunning views, winter is all about skiing and snow fun, and spring? A fresh start with more outdoor play. Every season offers new activities and new memories for our family.
Healthy Living, Utah-Style
As someone who loves eating healthy and finding local, wholesome food, I was a little worried when we moved. But let me tell you—Utah delivers! From co-ops with artisan breads and homegrown greens to Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and amazing farmers markets in the summer, I’ve found so many great spots to shop and eat clean.
More Space, Inside and Out
In Utah, space is a big win—literally. Many homes come with basements (finished or unfinished), which can be used as guest rooms, gyms, or playrooms. For us, having that bonus space has been amazing, especially when family comes to visit. And outside? Our kids finally have a big backyard to run, play soccer, jump on the trampoline—you name it.
