What to do in Salt Lake City

Have you ever wondered what there is to do in Salt Lake City?

Well, you’re in luck because today we are sharing why many people are being drawn to the Salt Lake City area.  Some other reasons include but are not limited to the abundance of activities, outdoors, the national parks, job opportunities, and religious reasons.  

Salt Lake City is known for its fine arts, live music, award-winning restaurants, and a variety of family friendly activities.  The city and the surrounding areas are filled with parks for outdoor enjoyment.  In fact, the city has a total of 81 public parks!  These parks range from the spacious regional parks to the neighborhood parks. 

Along with parks, Salt Lake City offers over 70 miles of paved and unpaved bike trails. Wardle Fields Regional Park in Bluffdale is a favorite park destination, complete with an oversized splash pad, giant climbing structure, zipline, and a massive grassy area perfect for picnicking. Liberty Park is another great park that offers carnival rides, playgrounds, a splash pad, and large shade trees. Utah Olympic Park is located in Park City, Utah and is a must-see outdoor attraction.  This park evolved during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.  Red Butte Garden offers art exhibits, summer classes, bird watching, and other educational programs throughout the year. And if you’re into snow sports, Alta and other world-class ski resorts are just an hour from Downtown.

Calling all sports fans!  Did you know that Salt Lake City’s sports fans have many options to stay entertained throughout the year. The Utah Jazz is Salt Lake City’s local NBA team and they play their home games at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.  During the summer, SLC has hosted the NBA Summer League Games right around the week of the 4th of July.  Soccer fans have the opportunity to enjoy MLS soccer with Real Salt Lake.  Home games for Real Salt Lake are held at the Rio Tinto Stadium.  Additionally, SLC also hosts the Utah Royals FC women’s professional soccer team and home games are played in the Rio Tinto Stadium as well.  College sports are well attended at some of the large universities such as University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, and Utah State University.  Sports such as football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball are a big deal!

Salt Lake City also offers a variety of food options. There are many local farmers markets that serve fresh produce, artisan goods, and entertainment.  Most of the farmers markets are open during the months June through October.  Along with local farmers markets, Salt Lake City also offers several award-winning restaurants.

If you are looking for arts and culture, Salt Lake City has much to offer. SLC is the worldwide headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Temple Square is the centerpiece of downtown Salt Lake City.  It is home to the famous Salt Lake City Temple and The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square is a  world-renowned Choir that performs weekly concerts. The Utah Museum of Contemporary Arts displays work from local, national, and international artists.  The Natural History Museum of Utah has an impressive collection of archeological and historical artifacts in the state.
